Quiany was raised in East Harlem, New York. It was at Chelsea Vocational High School where she discovered her desire to teach mathematics inspired by her Algebra teacher, Ms. Langley. Math has always been her favorite subject she enjoys problem-solving and the challenges that mathematics might have. She is thankful for all the support system that she has received throughout high school the teachers who never gave up on her; through college the SEEK (Search for Education, Elevation, and Knowledge) program–especially to Dr. Nazon–who, throughout her struggles, always pushed her to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Growing up in a low-income community is what drove Quiany to want to make a difference and inspire others to see that there is more to life than the four corners of our neighborhoods. She is a firm believer that everyone has the potential to be successful. Quiany is looking forward to be working as an apprentice with Blue Engine to teach mathematics because it is her gateway to the career she wants to pursue.
