Education: B.A. Political Science, Hunter College
Ariel grew up in the small town of Highland Park, NJ. After graduating with her small public school class of 100 people, she spent a year living in Israel and traveling with the program Kivunim: New Directions. It was during that year she was exposed to the importance of dialogue and education. Ariel (finally) moved to Manhattan to pursue her studies in political science and education policy. She spent the past year writing her thesis on the disparities between policy and practice regarding health education in NYC. Ariel spent five years working as a counselor and a unit head at the same camp she went to as a child. She has also worked with seventh graders, kindergarteners, and teens throughout college in various informal educational and advisory capacities. Through her studies in political science and education policy, as well as some of what she witnessed attending public school, she has become passionate about education justice and is excited to play her part in providing every child with a quality education. Ariel feels her best self working with children and cannot wait to be a BETA.
