We seek individuals whose combination of past experiences—as students, leaders, and volunteers—have prepared them to excel under challenging circumstances and create measurable change in the lives of young people.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree.  You must have received your bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university by the first day of Blue Engine’s summer training institute in August.
  • 2.50 Minimum GPA (undergrad).  You must have a cumulative 2.50 GPA on a 4.00 scale from an accredited college or university at the time we receive your application.

JOB ELIGIBILITY

  • US Citizenship or National / Permanent Resident Status.
  • BETAs must be cleared through background and security checks prior to beginning their year of service.
  • Previous AmeriCorps experience is NOT a prerequisite to become a BETA.

AMERICORPS STATUS

  • If you have served less than one year with an AmeriCorps program (including NCCC or VISTA), or if you have never served with AmeriCorps, you are eligible to apply to become a BETA.
  • If you have already served a year and a half or more with AmeriCorps, your AmeriCorps benefits may be affected.
