Jessi began her career in education reform as a 2007 Teach for America Corps Member in New York City. Jessi spent two years teaching middle school math in the South Bronx and then ventured to London to teach, lead a middle school math department and spend more time traveling. Impassioned by the desire to provide more time and opportunities for her students than a traditional school day could provide, Jessi returned to New York City in 2011 to join Citizen Schools as a Campus Director where she launched and grew the Citizen Schools Expanded Learning Time site at the Bronx Writing Academy. Joining Blue Engine in the summer of 2013 as a Site Director, Jessi launched two new school sites – Bronx River High School and Renaissance High School for Musical Theater and Technology. In 2015, she transitioned to become a founding member of Blue Engine’s Design Team focusing on creating ELA Lab Classrooms, refining our ELA Core Program Model and supporting BETA Professional Development. Jessi is now excited to build out the Program Team’s first-ever Strategy & Operations function.
