Hallie Gittleman

Senior Director, Impact

Hometown: Chappaqua, NY

Education: BS Communication, MS Education, University of Pennsylvania

Hallie has been a math nerd for most of her life. She began her career in education as a 2009 Teach for America Corps Member at a school in Philadelphia, where she taught both middle and high school math, and led the math department as the Curriculum Coordinator. After a brief (two-year) stint out of the education world, consulting and analyzing market research data in the private sector, she excitedly joined Blue Engine in 2014 as a Site Director. In this role, she coached BETAs in team teaching classrooms, launched a new school partnership and consistently pushed to use data to drive classroom instructional decisions. Combining her passion for education and quantitative thinking, Hallie is excited to build out the role of Director, Program Learning and Evaluation this year. Her hope is to ensure that Blue Engine has the tools and systems necessary to consistently reflect on teams’ ability to meet individual student needs and improve the practice of the teachers, while continuing to be an organization poised to learn and increase its effectiveness. Hallie was lucky to have had many educational opportunities in her life and is motivated to engage in work that challenges the current systems in American education that have prevented so many from having access to the same opportunities.
