Hometown: Bay City, MI
Education: University of Michigan – Majors: Linguistics and Spanish
A proud Michigander, Meghan grew up in a rural town where she learned to appreciate hard work and collaboration on her family’s farm. Later, she attended the University of Michigan where she studied Linguistics and Spanish, and was encouraged by her professors and peers to explore new viewpoints and push the boundaries of what she could learn. In doing so, she developed a new perspective, a love for community outreach and working with kids, and a need to assist in the fight against institutionalized discrimination. During her time at U of M, Meghan had the opportunity to get involved in her own community as well as communities across the globe. She assisted in schools in rural Nicaragua, led workshops in a girls’ shelter in Peru, and taught Spanish to 4th graders in Ann Arbor. However, where Meghan believes she truly developed a passion for continuing in education and community involvement was in her work with the Community Action Network, where she helped lead an educational afterschool program at a local community center for at-risk youth. She is excited to continue in this field of work with Blue Engine and hopes to be a helpful resource to her students at Bronx High School of Business.
