Jessica grew up in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, NY, where she spent most of her free time running through Central Park and Riverside Park. She developed a great appreciation for the outdoors and animals, and now lives happily near the Bronx Zoo. Coming from a low-income immigrant family, Jessica was able to surpass the adversity and become a first-generation college graduate. Only with the help and support from family, friends and school faculty was Jessica able to fulfill her dream of obtaining her bachelor’s degree. Noticing that her younger cousins were struggling with their homework the same way she struggled as a child, Jessica offered assistance. Not long after, she started tutoring her cousins’ friends as well. From 2014-2016, she volunteered at Reading Partners, a program dedicated to providing low-income students with reading support. In college, she studied psychology in hopes of becoming a psychologist, but with the experience she gained from tutoring, she remained interested in education field. Jessica is very excited to start this new journey with Blue Engine and hopes to bring an inspiration to her students!
