Elide was born and raised in the Bronx, NY. As a young girl, her parents instilled in her the importance of education and how it is essential to create opportunities. Elide grew up in a Honduran household as an American student, and these two personalities finally meshed in college and created a person that was fearless and determined to give back to her community in the same way that she had benefitted from it. Her interest in becoming a teacher stemmed from relationships with school faculty throughout high school and college, all of whom really pushed her to her highest potential. Throughout her educational career, Elide was a part of The Harlem Children’s Zone and The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) at the University at Albany. Combining her personal and academic experiences, Elide understands the importance of optimizing the tools available that help one advance academically. She looks forward to teaching her students about making the most of what you have, while emphasizing the value of education and the importance of having support, especially from family, friends and educators.
