Hometown: Bronx, NY
Education: Dance and Minors in English, Psychology, Hunter College
As a young girl, Brigette grew up in the Bronx, New York, without realizing that one day she will be living in the middle of NYC. Being the first generation in her family to be born in the United States and living with a single mother, education was emphasized throughout Brigette’s life. Brigette had several teaching jobs, beginning with her first experience as a one-on-one tutor. She then gained experience teaching kindergarten at an after-school program, followed by time spent as a volunteer dance company. However, her desire to make an impact came during her summer internship at Alvin Ailey’s Ailey Camp, where she gained experience being a leader to a group of 10-11 year olds. It was from there that she decided she wanted to pursue education. During her last year of undergrad, Brigette began applying to many teaching residency programs and attended career fairs at Hunter College, when she came across Blue Engine. She loved the vision and was excited to join. Brigette aspires to enter grad school next year.
