Alicia has always been very passionate about volunteering and working with others. After college, she volunteered at an all-girls boarding school in Guaimaca, Honduras where she was a teacher to both juniors and seniors in high school. She originally planned to stay for one year, but fell in love with teaching and with the community so much so that she stayed for two years instead. Her time spent in Honduras is where she truly learned what it means to value and appreciate education. It is there that she focused on the importance of education, especially continuing education after high school. When she came home from Honduras in 2014 she decided she wanted to pursue education by becoming a high school Math teacher. She wants to be a positive influence for her students just as her former teachers and professors had been for her. She’s very excited to be part of Blue Engine and working in a school again.
